A Japanese board game, shogi is often compared with international chess, and both are originated from an ancient Indian game, chaturanga.
Shogi is played on a 9 x 9 grid board by two players with two sets of 20 wedge-shaped pieces.
Although shogi and chess are cousins, there are differences; for example, in shogi, captured pieces can be re-entered by the capturing player, and almost all pieces except certain pieces can promote.
If you are a chess player, you will get the shogi rule easily.
