“Local specialty burgers” from various cities are often introduced in TV and magazines lately. Unique burgers which feature local specialty foods appear one after another. The Japan’s gourmet city, Osaka has its specialty burger. It is simply called Osaka burger and was born at a Japanese style handy food restaurant, Hanamaru.

Osaka is famous for its foods made from flour such as takoyaki and okonomiyaki (photos above), which is used as buns for the Osaka burgers.

The original Osaka burger has pork, squid and fried egg with thick okonomiyaki sauce. And popular ume chicken Osaka burger has chicken and perilla with ume (Japanese apricot) sauce.  The sour ume sauce and refreshing perilla leaf creates beautiful harmony.

Although, okonomiyaki is one of the foreign people’s favorite Japanese foods, it requires chopsticks and iron spatula and not so “fast food” enough as hamburgers. Hanamaru improved on okonomiyaki and made Japan’s original fast food burger.

When you visit Osaka and want to eat Osaka, why don’t you try Osaka burger?

Hanamaru is 5 minutes from Exit 6 at Sakaisuji-Hommachi Station on foot.
