Do you think traveling Japan is expensive?

Well, it is. But depending on where you stay, you can save a lot of money. For example, Japanese style bed and breakfasts accommodation, minshuku are good saver!

The overnight rates for minshuku are about 6,000 to 9000 yen (US$70 to 100). Most of them serve breakfast and sometimes dinner too.

Minshuku are usually family operated and perfect to experience Japanese lifestyle. Especially traditional style minshuku provide interesting experiences, such as an irori, a Japanese old sunken hearth.

You can find minshuku in Minshuku Network Japan Website in English. There is an “application form” in the site, and it seems they make reservation in your behalf (they charge you though).
