How to apply “ganguro” makeup


 

Around late 90s to early 2000s, teen girls with tanned face and white lipsticks were seen in Tokyo area.

They called themselves “ganguro”, which literally means black face because they got really tanned or put dark foundation on their face.

They are not seen lately, but there are some remains of “ganguro” in the girls’ makeup like thick false eyelashes or volumey hairstyle.

Here is a video which a Japanese woman showing how to apply “ganguro” makeup.

 

 

 

Important points are the highlights around eyes and on nose, and the nose shadow!

I don’t think you can walk around a town with this makeup but it would be a good idea for a Halloween party or something!
