The readers of this Blog (JAPAN Style) must be interested in Japanese culture, and those of you may be learning or want to learn Japanese.

Learning another language is hard.

The common ways to study another language would be going to language school or use study aids like book and CDs.

Today, I want to introduce an easy and inexpensive way.

It’s a language exchange site, Lang-8.

It’s a casual language learning SNS.

In this website, the members from all over the world help others lean other languages by correcting their writings.

There are all kinds of language speakers join the SNS. So you can learn different languages at home!

Learning a language from a native speaker is very helpful.

Since it’s “give and take”, if you find someone wants to learn your language, help the person!

It’s kind of fun to teach your own language, isn’t it?

Lang-8 is also a perfect site for international exchange; because different people will correct your writing, you’ll make a lot of friends from different countries.

I actually signed in and tried it.

Surprisingly, right after I posted my writing, an American corrected my English (not always get corrected).

You can choose from Free Account or Premium Account ($5/month).

The difference between them is explained in the site.

I recommend signing up Free Account first, then upgrade to Premium if you like.

The good thing about this site is that the interface is available in many language including; French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Tagalog, and so on.

It can be changed on the language select box above the site.

The person who launched this website is a 25 year-old Japanese man, Ki Youyou, who has won various business awards in Japan.

The sale of Lang-8 is not so much yet; however, it gained 90,000 members from 190 countries.

“I want to make Lang-8 become a international standard site.”

For him to achieve the goal, support Lang-8 and have fun!
