20 Million Yen Vertu’s Cell Phones

Luuxry phone company, [W:Vertu] recently unveiled its cell phone collection “Signature Kissho”.

Photos are HERE.

The phones are decorated with maki-e (Japanese lacquer sprinkled with gold or silver powder) by a Living National Treasure, Kazumi Murase.

The company sells only four devices in the world, and they’re all different in designs.

The price is 20 million yen (US$215,720) a piece! 😯

As you can tell by the price, there is so much work into the pieces; it took one year to craft them.

It was preceded as following,

Baking, preliminary sketch, mother-of-pearl (painting backside), mother-of-pearl (putting shells), sprinkling with gold powder, setting powder, brushing, polishing, rubbing with oil, lacquering, and finishing.

While other phone companies are releasing their original models by collaborating famous brands or characters like Gundam, Vertu teamed up with a Living National Treasure, so the class is different from them.

The collection will definitely be stimulator for phone collectors!
