Long Awaited! Sumo Apps for Smartphone

Sumo is one of Japanese traditional sports, and there are stable fans, which can be demonstrated by this news; Japan Sumo Association announced that they released official sumo app for smartphone on 8th March, and iOS version has also been available since 14th March.  Today, I would like to write about this brand new app.

According to an article, there is free version and paid version.  Basically, what you can get from this app is regular sumo tournament information.  Paid service (500 JPY or US$4.89) will allow you to watch any senior rank tournament movies back to 2010 May.  Also, you can register 20 sumo wrestlers in your favourite and you can see information about those wrestlers using this app.  By using this app, you don’t have to search movies on youtube, which seems to be a big reason of popularity.

If you have a “strictly no payment to app” policy, then free version is the one for you!  Available service will be less than paid version, but you can still see all tournament results below senior rank, and you can watch 1 movie of senior rank match a day.  While paid version allows you to register 6 wrestlers, 1 favourite wrestler can be registered in your favourite with free version, too!

Nice to find good old things in new technology!  But this flexibility is the reason why Sumo has been loved for such a long time 😛   I hope more and more people will be able to enjoy Sumo by this app.
