America-born Kewpie is so loved and popular in Japan.
Especially small sized kewpie doll key chains and cell-phone straps are sold well.
They are in varieties of costumes, and there are even region original versions, which are available in certain places!!

They made is for the 40th anniversary.
The picture #2: Kusatsu Hot Spring Kewpie
Kusatsu is a famous hot spring town in [W:Gunma Prefecture].
This Kewpie is in a costume of a yumomi person who stir hot spring to cool down.
The picture #3: The Japanese Self-Defense Forces Kewpie
It’s the Forces’ original Kewpie in the army costume.
The picture #4: [W:Miyagi Prefecture] Kewpie
The left one is oyster, and the right one is fish cake. Both are the region’s specialties.

It’s in the omamori (Japanese amulet pouch) from the town’s famous temple.

I live in San Francisco and I have been collecting beautiful antique Kewpie s all my life My collection consists of everything from Beautiful bisque dolls from the early 1930’s also hard plastic dolls, postcards, advertising displays, dishes, Books (my mom was an expert on the subject and she even wrote as well as published 3 books about Rose O’Neil and Kewpie s) anything Kewpie, you name it I have it. Does anyone know of any Rose O’Neil Kewpie clubs In Japan? I understand that authentic antique items are a little more difficult to come by in Japan, so I was thinking about making a visit to Japan to sell some of my fabulous items Does anyone know if there is a market for these things?
