Showa University and robot maker Tmsuk announced their humanoid dental patient, Hanako Showa, who is like a real patient and helps dental students to practice.
The treatment simulation with Hanako gives great opportunity for the dental students because she reacts like a real patient.
She can drool, cough, open and close her mouth, move eyes, jay and tongue, say “it hurts!”
The demonstration movie
Hanako is their third generation dental robot, so it’s more durable and the texture is more like human skin than older models.
Now they only made this female model but it would be useful if they have a child one because giving treatment for children seems harder than adults and requires more skills and practice.
