Nico Nico Video’s Dance Event “Nico Nico Dance Master 2”

In Nico Nico Douga, a Japanese major video sharing site which as strong anime/game tastes, there is a category called “odottemita,” meaning “I’ve tried dancing,” where various types of dancers share videos of their dance performances.

The dance styles and skills are very diverse; early teens, people in their thirties, beginners, experienced dancers, street dance, idol dance, ota-gei (otaku dance) and original dance… It is chaotic and very like Nico Nico Douga.

Last Sunday, the biggest Nico Nico Douga event, “Nico Nico Dance Master 2” was held in Tokyo and 117 dancers from “odottemita” performed for 1,800 audiences at the venue and over 100,000 viewers who watched the show that was broadcast live on the video site.

In this festival, dancers collaborated with other dancers. They made special teams and practiced new choreography for the festival.

The team “Nunta” consisting of three female dancers, Hinata, Oshiri-na, and Sue, performed a vocaloid song in kimono costumes.

“Nyantaro Project” is a team of street dancers.

Boys group “Danshiko 2-5” performed cute dance.

The audiences were really charged up during the festival which went on for 3 hours nonstop. This is the finale act.

“Nico Nico Dance Master 2” was way more entertaining than the first Nico Nico Dance Master that was held a half year ago.
