A tripod is very useful when you travel alone or take photos in the dark, isn’t it?

I found an interesting blog, so let me show you!

The blog says that tripod screw sizes are standardized, so you can make something like a tripod out of various things. He is making a camera stand out of PET bottle, first.

 

 

 

You can find many kinds of screws at a store.

 

 

Look for “1/4inch screws”. The price is 10~25 yen (about US$0.2) each. So cheap!!

One screw is almost the same price  as one Umaibo snack bar, which is cheap and very popular in Japan.

 

 

Long screws are a little more expensive and difficult to handle than short ones, so get 12~16mm.

You need a nut and two washers also.

[How to make a PET bottle camera stand]

Prepare an empty and clean PET bottle.

 

 

Make a 6mm hole at the center of the top.

 

 

It’s easy if you have a drill.

Set a washer on a screw and insert it into the hole from the bottom.

 

 

Set another washer to hold the top, otherwise the screw slips off. Fix a nut.

 

 

Put some water in the bottle for stability.

Done!

 

 

So easy, eh? It all costs only 19yen (about $2). (Cheaper than two Umaibo bars!)

 

 

Let’s make another one out of a helmet. This is 880yen.
