In Japan, there are various places that you can peek in the life in Edo period (1603-1868), but many of them are crowded and expensive.

Fukagawa Edo Museum in Fukagawa, Tokyo is not one of them!

“Fukagawa Edo Museum is a community culture center that was established in 1986. It has an Edo period display of reconstructed Fukagawa Saga-cho houses as well as a small theater and a lecture hall, coupled with the Shirakawa branch of Koto-ku administrative office. Since its opening, the center has held exhibitions regarding the history of Edo Fukagawa and has provided space for many cultural activities. (Koto City Culture and Community Foundation)”

Opening hours

Exhibition Hall 9:30am to 5pm (last admission: 4:30pm)

Small theater and lecture hall 9am to10pm

The admission fee is 300 yen for an adult and 50 yen for an elementary or junior high school student! (The price may change.)

They are reconstructing the building now and closed till July 23.

According to the person who went there, it wasn’t so crowded even during a weekend.
